adding an oil cooler
i went to auto zone today looking for a fuse. asked a question about a oil cooler while and found this
i know it says its for the tranny but it was only 30 bucks. and has everything except the filter adapter. so i will be putting it on as a motor oil cooler. this way i get a little extra capacity and some cooler running oil. i will add more pics as i do more stay tuned

ok so i could not wait so i did some of the work tonight. i bought the filter adapter. here it is on
and the cooler is mounted to the rad as you can see it is not to big so it should not mess with the cooling much.
i am going to need another quart or 2 of oil and some more hose i only had enough for one run. so it will have to wait for tomorrow to finish

Good idea a1...
One thing that would help solve the issue of oil going all over everything on an oil change might be to remote mount the filter. Like in this picture. Don't know if anyones tried that. What diameter are the lines in the cooler you picked up?

yeah that may be next cause it is a pain to get them on and off from where it is now. and it is all 1/2 id. so it should flow ok as well. if i notice a pressure drop i will pull it and use it for the tranny.

I think you'll be ok with the 1/2" fittings. I looked on the B&M site and that's what most of theirs have. Can you still do a before and after comparison or are you far enough along where you wouldn't want to take the adapter back off? That way you can put a number on the degrees it lowers the oil temperature? Have to think about that... Any ideas?
You'd want to test in like temps and the same type driving.

I was talking oil temperature. It would be nice to know the before and after results. That way you'd have a nice technical article with oil temp without cooler and oil temp with cooler. We just need to think of how you could measure the before...
