Add a leaf
I bought a good set of 2wd f150 leaf springs they were only $20. Does anyone think they will be good to use as add a leafs if I use the center leafs. They look like they would. Has anyone ever tried this.

They actually aren't very stiff at all compared to a 4wd f150 set of leafs. I'm going to try it anyway. Ill let you know when I'm done if they work or not. If anyone has any other opinions let me know.

Just thinking the truck leaves were meant to carry a load and the XJ not so much. If you use some of the leaves don't use the bottom. It is typically the overload spring and the stiffest of them all.

as long as you dont use the overload spring you should be fine. think about it. everyone uses s10 springs to build bastard packs. those are meant to carry a load. i have them in my jeep and they ride great.

They will be very stiff. Stock XJ springs are about 700lbs spring rate, those will be closer to 2000+ lbs spring rate. I tried a FS Chevy 2" AAL from RC, it lifted the XJ 7". With zero compression of the spring when the rig was let down from the jack. Had zero flex, was as if I had bolted the axle directly to the frame.

Yes S10 are made for hauling as well but a F150 is a 1/2 ton truck and a S10 is roughly a 1/4 ton like a Jeep. Try hauling fire wood or pulling a trailer with a S10.

true, but would one leaf out of the pack make it that bad? my guess is that it would be better than an actual add a leaf.

Seems like it would be a lot of trial and error taking the springs out and putting them back in over and over. You might be better off just buying an add a leaf.

I'm going to try the springs and if they don't work well whatever. I'll take them off and try something else. The springs I have seem to be as stiff as my add a leaf from RC. I'm going from 3 to 5 inches so I have the normal add a leaf. Thanks for the opinions though!
