I understand that, but the gauge wasn't even moving. Also, does it make a sound as the can is emptying? Thanks!

none of the kits i ever did made any sound that i could hear over the engines noises. my jeep currently has the same issues your has though so i am starting to think something more in depth is wrong then the can not emptying. since i have zero ac tools, i am going to take it to a shop to fix (probably next march since this summer is already started)

If it is leaving the can it is going to begin to sweat and the can will get COLD. Do not, ever charge through the high side(red cap) That could blow the can up, and you do not want that to happen.

Put the ac on in the HIGH or MAX cool setting one notch above off. Blower at 4.
Attach it to the low side near the accumilator.
Rotate the can sideways then up, back and forth. between 12:00 and 3:00. Do not hold the can upside down... Bad for the compressor!!!
It will take a few to get it to charge the system. Then pray you don't have a bad evaporaor coil like I do.... $100 part, 12 hour job.

Ok. Did the gauge move right away when you connected the hose?

Ok. I'll try it again tonight and let it run for 20 minutes or so. After I gave up yesterday, I drove it about 30 minutes later and it blew cold for about 20 seconds. Perhaps I was onto something.

You wouldint wanna connect it to the high side because you will do nothing but pump a 150psi into the can and that would be bad. Connect it to the proper port "lowside" the only one it will fit turn the a/c on and hold the can upside down. That way it will discharge in fluid instead of gas.

Try shaking the can a little or turning it upside down for a bit. If the compressor does not kick on it could be another problem, also if the comp doesn't kick in the r134 wont go in. I would check the under hood fuses and relays also...Tj

What has to happen for the compressor to kick on? Just turn the a/c on?

I just tried it for about 25 minutes and nothing happened. The belt was spinning around the compressor, but that's most likely from the other pulley's helping it spin. My girlfriend told me that Sometimes it's cold, but for the most part it's hot. I'm thinking it's a bad compressor or?

Sounds to me like your problem is'nt a refrigerent level problem. I'd bet you a shiny new penny that you have a faulty pressure switch. If its a refrigerent problem you'll have no cooling period, were as you say its intermittent (cool sometimes) my first guess is you have a pressure switch thats inoperable. The pressure switch tells the compressor that theres refrigerent in the system and to go ahead and cycle (or compress) the refrigerent. It might be time to surrender and have someone trained in auto A/C look at it, probably save you money in the long run.
