Default AC Recharge on '99 Cherokee Inline 6

My girlfriend has a '99 Jeep Cherokee (Inline 6) and the a/c is blowing warm. I bought a recharge kit for it yesterday, but I can't find the nozzle on the vehicle where the hose should connect to.

The guy at auto zone told me that there is only one port in the system that the hose would connect to, which I found, but after I connected it, turned on the a/c and started the car, it seemed like it's not pulling anything from the can. I did find another cap near it that had a little tag on it that said "EVAP Service Port" so I decided to try that.

I tried to connect the hose to that port, but it was too small for the hose, however, if I would hold the hose on it with my hand, it seemed like it wanted to suck on it.

Has anyone ever done this on a 99 Cherokee? If so, I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!

when ppl made cars they give you the best a/c around its called windows.

no that should be a high side and a low side. they should be marked with a red and blue cap. its the red cap you wont to hook it to. you might need to get a retro fit kit. even know its a 99 jeep does skimp on things but they make up for it in other places bot that helps

you won't need a retro fit kit on a 99.

I did not see a blue cap, but I did see a red one. The tube that came with the can will not fit the red cap. The red cap is on top of one of the tubes coming directly from the compressor, just behind the compressor.

The only one the can will fit is a black cap directly in front the accumulator. I connected it to this one, but nothing happened when I opened the can.

Near the tank? You mean the accumulator? Also, I'm using an R-134 recharge kit. It doesn't take freon or? Thanks!

This is the one you want. Make sure the freon is properly opened and flowing. That could be your flow issue. Also make sure you have the a/c running while you do this to circulate it in the system.

Alright, I guess I'll try it again, but I was shaking the can and flipping it around while I had it connected. I know the can is punctured too because I loosened the cap a little to check and it started flowing out. More to come...

If it's not something stupid that will correct itself, do you have any idea what else it could be? Thanks!

Did it come with a pressure meter to tell you what the psi is flowing into the system?

Yes, but the problem is that once I crank up the engine and the ac, the gauge doesn't move at all nor does it sound like anything is even leaving the can. Does it take a while?
