I have replaced everything for my ac except the condenser on my 98 I6. The ac isn't that cold except when I'm doing like 65 on the highway. Any idea as to why?
When you set the A/C to MAX (Recirc), does your electric fan kick ON?
The electric fan should cycle ON/OFF as-needed when running lower A/C settings and should be on full-time (or nearly full time) when set to MAX. If the electric fan does not come on full when in MAX then that may be why your A/C is only marginal until running at highway speeds.

When u say "replaced everything", did that include the evap? If not, did u pour a/c flush into the evap and cond and blow both with compressed air? Everything I've read says the system must be free of old oil because a very specific amount must be in the system in order to function well. A precise measurement of new oil must be added, a vacuum pulled and refrigerant added by weight.
The electric rad fan and max a/c setting have nothing to do with each other. If the compressor is engaged (max setting or not) the efan is on ('99 down).

So the fan turns on as it should and the whole system was replaced at an auto shop. Nothing was done by me. It was done last year and it has never really been right

Count your blessings. At-least yours works. Mine needs an evaporator - or condenser - whatever, it's the one under the dash - I always confuse the name vs. location - I know which one to replace when time permits - already bought the part...

When you are at a stop, there is less air flow across the condenser coil than when you are moving, even if your fans are working, which should both have shrouds. The only way to improve that is if you are running huge electric fans, like a couple of Taurus fans on high.
