Default AC issues

This all started about the time I moved to MO, my AC clutch quit kicking on and off but the air was blowing cold. checked the clutch (good) all the switches (good) system pressure (good, 60#). Took it in had a vac check done (good). Now I am back in Cali and on days when it is over 85 but under 100 the clutch works, when it gets over a 100 it stays running like before. I was told in MO by an AC tech it was the humidity, and that's why it wouldn't kick off. In Cali I have been told that I am low on freon though the pressure is where it's supposed to be with the proper amount of freon (28 ounces). Also the shop in Cali told me that R134 systems/and conversions have to be serviced every year ( that sounded like a crack head statement if I ever heard one)....... anyway any thoughts on what may be causing this intermittent AC clutch issue?
Also, everything but the hi/low switch and compressor are original to the jeep. The compressor came out of a wrecked 89 and the hi/low was new

R u saying the clutch seldom disengages or r u saying it frequently disengages? After our a/c overhaul, the clutch seldom disengages and we get 34F at the center vents......burrrrr, it works great.

Find a new A/C shop. A properly funtioning A/C system should not have to be serviced every year, if refridgerent has to be added it means there is a leak. The refridgerent does not wear out and need to be replaced.

So what are you worried about? It's working perfectly, now go find some wood to knock on.

I'll bet that piece of wood to knock on ends up being like the proverbial needle in a hay stack.

have been knocking on wood, but when what was thought to be broken starts to work again something else may have broke..... freon in Cali is expensive, gas is expensive(with the clutch on full time I can watch the fuel needle move). So yeah I am looking for my needle

Slide the vent selector to a non-a/c position (compressor disengaged) and roll down the windows.

For whatever reason your A/C clutch is always on. If you don't want it on during certain days, just go and unplug the connector that allows the clutch to engage inside of the bay.

The only time it should disengage is if the evaporator temp switch senses risk of ice up or pressure switch opens if you have the system on. The higher the humidity, the less chance of a freeze up. As far as the a/c shop, find a new one. The only time any a/c system needs service is if something goes bad from wear or age. Unless somebody half-azzed converted it and It'll need refrigerant every year (or once a month) because they didn't bother leak check and replace seals/O-rings. I've seen a bunch of that crap.

Thank you for an explanation and an answer to what my question was. That makes what I thought was a problem not one at all, and that saves me at least 200 dollars
