Default AC compressor wires (black w/solid silver)

88 4.0 XJ. The black wire that is connected to the body of the AC compressor has broken off, there's what's left of a little crimp connector about 14" from the compressor body and can't see where it originally connected. It's a black wire bundled with a solid silver wire (diode?). Diagram seems to show that it just goes right to the orange wire, should I just make a new connection at the orange wire? Thanks.

If it broke off (common in older vehicles due to corrosion) and you have already shown where it was attached, I'd just go with your plan and reattach it.

Yeah I guess it's clear enough that it goes to the orange, just bugs me that I can't see where it originally went. The orig connection was probably under the rubber grommet so just hidden, i'll probably find it when I take it apart. Thanks
