ABS Rear Axle in Non ABS XJ
I've got a line on a good deal on a Chrysler 8.25 rear axle assembly with ABS from a 97 cherokee, but my 96 Cherokee doesn't have ABS. What issues am I up against? It's a 4:10 gear ratio and I'm running 3.55 now. (I also have a Dana 30 with 4:10 to put in up front)

the only difference is they have tone rings on them
ABS was an option that was available for the later model XJs. It was not standard equipment on any of them. It was offered as part of certain trim packages, but each package could be ordered with or without it.

Another plus to this rear axle is that is has disk brakes already on it. I don't have to replace my master cylinder to switch from drums to disk, do I?
Some say you need to replace the master cylinder, but others have gotten away without doing so just fine... You may want to replace your proportioning valve with one from a ZJ or an adjustable one though. :-)

I put rear ZJ brakes on another XJ I used to have and never had a problem. Bought an adjustable prop valve from Summit but never had to install it.
