Default ? about rocker panels

I knew when I got my 93 XJ I would have to replace the rockers. yesterday I spent some time poking at them to find something that resembled metal. Well I noticed that there seemed to be either rosett style welds or rivets holding it to the B pilar. Are these things just rivited on? or will I need a welder to replace them? This is my first jeep so Im not familiar with unibody's.

Also how important is the pinch seam in rocker replacement... mine on both sides are.... well.... Ya...

thanks

My 91 had no rockers and no pinch welds left. I used 2x4 box steel with some 4" wide flat stock. Welded it to the floor boards and to the sill under the door. It worked great, I could jack it up using the rockers.
madxj.com--- go to technical and find the rocker replacement threads.
Yes you do need to weld them in.

cool, thanks for the info. I've seen some of the pics with steel box tubing for rockers, I like that idea. I was looking for alternatives to welding because I don't have a welder. The more I think about it though, the more I think... 1. do it right. .... 2. do it to last. .. and 3. mmmm...welder...., oh the fun I could have. I'll check out that site you mentioned.

Thanks

Have you found a more detailed DIY? Speedyp was searching for one at the other thread and I think he was able to solicit some answers from our co-members. Perhaps, you can visit that thread. I also found about this rocker panel replacement. What do you think about it?

There are at least two write ups on madxj. you will find several on naxja. Measure, cut, have someone weld it for you, prep and paint (or bedliner) and forget about it. There's not much detail to be given as it's very simple.
