Default About to lose my mind... stalling/dying issue

Hey guys, been a bit since ive been on here, since I THOUGHT I had everything running fine lol. Anyways, I bought a 1990 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L Inline 6 Automatic about 8 months ago. I was having an issue with it dying on me randomly while driving. RPMS would sputter and dropped for about 5 secs then just died. So I bought a new battery and had alternator tested. Alternator checked out fine. So then someone on her told me it could be the fuel pump relay. So I ordered one from JEEP and replaced that. Still happened. So then someone on here suggested maybe the fuel pump. So I changed that, still happened. At the same time, what I believed to be an unrelated issue, I was having an issue with the coolant overflow bottle cap on my closed system. So I got a new cap from autozone and it had been working. Now, this car is just a once in a blue moon car and a driver in the winter snow. So I don't drive it enough for the issues to be as noticeable. Well, about a week ago I took it out for a spin and it left me stranded again. So upon doing some more research I saw people saying it could be the crank position sensor. So I replaced that (was an absolute nightmare btw). Well, took it out today and wouldnt ya know it..... died on me. I am losing my mind with this damn jeep. Does anyone have any other suggestions? When I finally got it running again I popped the hood and started messing with wires, shaking them trying to make it die again. I got over to the 4 relays on the passenger side (were the fuel pump relay was) and pushed around on that, pushing it down, and the car would start dying everytime I did it. So I finally pushed down hard and it died. I did this several times with the same result. So I pulled all the relays except the fuel pump and it started. While running I pulled the pump relay and it died. So the fuel pump relay works. I dont know if its faulty wiring under the relays or what. Can ANYONE help me???

You sure you replaced the fuel pump relay the first time? There are diagrams out there that are incorrect. Fuel pump relay should be the second one back form the front of the Jeep.

Might take a peek at the wiring under the relay center while you're at it.

just last week a guy posted that his Jeep was stalling out on him randomly too. he replaced the ignition coil and now it runs so you could prob try that, you can get a aftermarket coil cheap on summitracing that will throw out more voltage and they have really fast shipping.

here's the thread of the other guy

There are many possibilities. Throwing parts at your Jeep because it fixed somebody else's isn't the best way to diagnose things.

I agree with cruiser, what works on one vehicle won't always work on another even if they are the same year make model engine, one thing is if you can scan the computer even if the light isn't on you might pull up a soft code or if you can get your hands on a scanner that can give live engine data you can use it while making it stutter and see if it can't clear up exactly what is causing it. Not a guarantee but its worth a shot.
