99cherokee alternator/voltage regulator need help

Having the same problem. Bought a new alternator, but the connections aren't the same and I have this thing that I believe is an external regulator (plastic box with 2 prongs and a wire) that bolted to the back of my old alternator that I don't know what to do with, as it is not clear exactly where I might bolt this to the back of the new alternator. Any suggestions?
