Default 99 XJ - new owner with Hub question

Just picked up a 99 XJ Sport today and it's got the driver side wheel bearing groaning BAD. Sounds like passenger side is too but I've got a right ear infection and can barely hear out of that side.

When turning side to side cruising down the road I can hear and feel the groaning going from one hub to the other.

Anyway......searching on the forum I ran across these two threads discussing hub / rotor differences

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/par...160761/index2/

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/a...e-hubs-360959/

...so I just went out and pulled the driver side wheel & rotor off mine to see which one it had so I can order them and now I am stumped.....

The hubs in my XJ DO have the 1-1/8" long studs.
BUT, the ring around the axle nut is only 7/16" tall - not 3/4" or 1-1/8" as indicated in the 2nd link above.

My rotors are cast rotors with the square hat.
They are 1/4" thick at the mounting face.
BUT, they are 2-3/16" tall from the rotor face to the top of the hat - not 2-1/8" or 2-1/4" as indicated in the 2nd link above.

Have they started making rotors to split the difference so they work on both styles? The PO said they had brakes put on about a year ago, but he's not mechanical at all, so he wouldn't have had any knowledge of the different styles - and at the time I wasn't aware either so didn't know to ask.

Would you recommend getting the composite or cast style hubs?

The rotors aren't trash but not new either. The pads on the driver side looked to have about 1/2 life left in them and didn't appear to have one worn more than the other to any significant amount. I'm not against replacing them if it is recommended to go one way or the other on the hubs and match the rotors.

I do plan to go ahead and replace the u-joints while I am in there too.

What's the parts store/dealership tell ya'?

I've not ever had 'em sell me the wrong one. I've replaced hub bearing assemblies on every thing from a Malibu to Dodge 4x4's,,and my '98 Cherokee.
