Default 99 xj Cranks but does not start

Went to the gas station to fill up, jeep was running fine. Topped it off from about a 1/4 tank to full. Went to start it, jeeps cranks/turns over fine, but will not start. Had it towed home. I can hear the fuel pump, and have fuel at the rail(pressure unknown). Pulled a plug, and I have a spark, and compression. Can anyone give more steps/ clues to narrow this down.

Cell, you are headed in the right direction.
Fuel issues or spark. Suggestions.
Not everyone can see your avatar.
List year,engine,trans,etc.
Be very specific in your descriptions.
I.e.,how did you check compression & spark,& what were the results.
You can not determine fuel pressure by hearing the pump startup.
Post more info & some members will be happy to help.

Okay, got it running. Took the Crank P.S apart at the connection, then at the suggestion of the internet, I tapped on the sensor at the bellhousing. Waala!! FIRED RIGHT UP. I believe a new CPS is in order. Tapping on the sensor, may have drove it closer to the ring, allowing the sensor to make a slightly stronger magnetic field. I don't know. All I do know is that now it runs. Yay!!!

I have the exact problem so I replaced the fuel pump and went to start but nothing. Others say its the Fuel Pressure Reg (FPR), check for spark and then the crank position sensor. I have yet to check for spark (whats the best way to check for this), but the FPR seems to be working just fine as I have pressure out of the shrader valve. I dont know which pressure (which gauge do you check for pressure?) I have. Also my CPS is new, around 500 or so miles on it and someone said it should be OEM as they work better than aftermarket. A buddy says he's had to change his out a couple of times until it worked properly.
