So my 89 xj make this high pitch squeal/screech as i'm accelerating around 3500 rpms from the front. and my car will kind of stop to accelerate. Also, when my car is in power transmission mode, and i step on the gas, my car squeals like crazy and like wont accelerate and idk if its a bearing or something but it feels like my engine is in neutral and im stepping on it. idk how to explain it but it squeals at high rpms and will kinda stop accelerating.

any help will be GREATLY appreciated

I had the same problem with the squeal found out my belt tensioner bolt was loose, gotta check the little things also good luck.

Your Jeep does not have a belt tensioner. Belt tension is adjusted by the power steering pump. It does have an idler pulley. If it is locking up, it's not going to stop the whole vehicle. The belt will burn up first.

A bad transmission will stop the vehicle. Might want to have it diagnosed.
