Default 99 xj classic 4.0 won't start

Symptoms of a slowly dying fuel pump for the past month or so . Jeep won't start yesterday. Installed new fuel pump today thinking almost 100% fuel pump was the problem . Still no start . Nice priming noise and pressure at the rail . Spark issue ? Crank position sensor ? God I'm frustrated . Any help or suggestions would be appreciated . Crank position sensor replaced by a shop 2 years ago . Not sure of the brand . Spark plugs about a year old . Ill go gap all my plugs to spec in the mean time .

Possibly important details
speed gauge went out maybe 2 months ago . Rest of the cluster is alive . Only mph

Replaced throttle position sensor begining of this year. No codes other than my missing 02 senor from the cat

Okay , I connected 3 different plugs to their wires , without actually inserting them into the engine , all seperately. Neither had any spark . safe to assume I need a new distributor?

Do you have spark at the coil?

Got a multimeter? See if you are getting signal from the CkPS.

i assume it's cranking, just not starting?
i am willing to bet on the crank sensor. test and replace with a mopar sensor, the aftermarket sensors are known to be weak, right out of the box.

Check to see if you're getting power to the injectors. If both have no power the problem lies with either the ASD relay or the PCM isn't getting a crank signal. Try swapping the ASD relay with the horn relay. If still nothing, try the horn! This proves the relay works. Go for the crank sensor. Best to go Mopar on that one.

Okay wow , I just popped the hood an hour ago , inspected the ckps clip, and the wire going into the distributor . The wire going into distributor cap was severed right were the cap fits over . Stripped and rewired , it fired up! However I have a missfire , unplugged each injector Individually, and only one didn't make a difference when unplugged. I will replace the corresponding plug wire and see if I can pick up a single injector . Thanks people .

Inspect the wires at the injector plug. One is hot and the other grounds thru the PCM.

Borrow a noid set from AutoZone to see if the electricity is working. If it is, test and clean it (instructions upon request). If not, may have an issue with the injector driver.
