99 XJ bogs in all gears EXCEPT reverse
I have a 1999 cherokee sport, all stock with 215k miles. The problem is that it has lots of trouble accelerating forward, especially from a stop. The jeep bogs and bucks and cuts out above 1500rpm and sometimes even lower, the issue is less pronounced above ~ 25mph but will still bog anytime I want to accelerate. I'm unable to go up steep hills from a standstill, it doesnt stall, but it heavily bogs. BUT in reverse, I have 100% engine power with no bogging and I can tow a fullsize pickup truck in 4HI backwards up the same steep hill. The torque converter was just replaced with no change. Also the plugs, wires and cap and the fuel pump. Is there any sensor connected to the PCM that would act differently in reverse? I am perplexed
