where is the most common spot for a ground/ short via body ground or the wire itself to lose connection on a 99... i think i have narrowed my problem don to a bad ground

all of them, none is more important than the other. Start at the battery work your way through the engine bay inspecting everyone of them. I would just go 'head and clean them or replace them.

The braided ground between the back of the cylinder head and the firewall is most prone to disintegrating. Remove it (if there is any left) and install a beefier ground there.
