99 Just instantly died at a stop sign.
I was waiting in line at a stop sign and the jeep just died and wouldnt start back. I checked all the fuses and they looked to be fine. Then I also just replaced the CPS since those are notorious for just stopping and still didnt start. Last time this happened I just unplugged the speedometer sensor since it no longer works and it started right up. THis time that trick didnt work. The reason I dont have a speedometer is I put an sye on and it worked for a bit and then it ate up the AA plastic gear. I am getting fuel. I am not getting fire out of the coil. So something is stopping it from firing. Thanks for the help in advance.

1. FIX THOSE WIRES!
2. Test ignition coil. They can be tested for primary and secondary resistances. Compare your readings to factory spec per manual
3. ASD (autoshutdown) circuit still in play. Start by swapping an ASD relay with another relay in the power distribution center (black box under the hood on passenger side).

OK i belive those wires are just the grounds. Especially since my jeep will no longer lock its doors or anything electrical now. So anything else that it may be?

1. Verify crank sensor wiring

#2 Ignition coil. Are you reffering to the coil? The little black square box object that the distributor gets its power from? If so it does not have any power coming out of it at this time. I will check to see if it has power going into it by taking one off of my 96 just to check
#3. I will run outside and also pull a working one from the 96 to check.

I went and bought all new relays and and a new coil. It didnt start up. I didnt bolt the coil in I just made sure it was grounded to the block. Will bolting it make a difference? What else is next on the list?

Ok so i read the codes and I am getting a P1389 code which from what I have read is the autoshut down code. So i replaced all the relays and now am still dead in the water.

I also tried the wiggle the shifter technique and still nothing. It shows the reverse lights when it is in reverse and everything

ASD Circuit.
12 volts from ignition switch to the ASD relay; when the key is first turned on the PCM provides a ground to the ASD relay to energize it, then the ASD relay passes 12 volts to the coil primary side. If no crank sensor signal is generated after a couple of seconds the PCM cuts the ground to the ASD relay (and fuel pump relay too) and that cuts power to the coil (and fuel pump). Key to START and once again the PCM energizes the ASD relay. Now, a critical element is the crank sensor--no signal from the crank sensor and the PCM won't trigger the coil to provide spark.
