Just curious about my rig and how rare is it. I picked up a 99' jeep xj sport 2dr. with a factory electric sunroof a few months back, I haven't seen to many 2dr's and ecspecially with a sunroof. Are they rare or not? Maybe a stupid question lol

I am sure someone around here has production numbers. I don't see many '97+ 2-doors around, myself. I would bet they are fairly rare in a not-many-of-these-in-my-neightborhood kind of way, but not so much in a worth-extra-money way

Does it have a distributer cap or coil packs above each spark plug?

I remember when I ordered a new s-10 in 1998, I ordered it 5 speed, ext cab, manual windows and mirrors, but with cruise and AC and loaded everything else.
I remember saving quite a bit of money of what I didn't want, and getting a good deal on what I did want. Don't even know if they will customize like that anymore, because I'm too poor to even think about a new car, but back then they would.
Your options may be special. For someone who may WANT them.. That is the thing. It's only worth what someone will pay for it. Is it rare? Maybe.. Does it matter monetarily? probably not.

It's got a distribitor cap, I don't care if its worth any money because it may be rare, just curious if its rare compared to other xj's. Either way i'm going to enjoy it on and off road lol

Most preferred and bought the 4 door model, even thou the 4 door cost more. Getting into the back seat in the 2 door model is a pain.

Believe the dist cap design went away in 1997 - my '96 2-dr has a cap...

No, that only started with the 2000 model (incl. Jeeps built in late '99.)

Its not that bad, but who cares? Its your jeep, why would you be getting into any seat but the drivers seat??

Late 99 is the beginning, as stated.

Then why does the 1999 Factory Service Manual make no mention of them? I'm guessing that some 2000 models were delivered early and sold as 99s.

Honestly things like this happen all the time. And not just with Jeep.

Maybe they made more XJs than expected, and ran out of the distributor system earlier than they thought? I don't know.
