I know this has been posted about before, still haven't seen a solid answer , any help would be great. 98 jeep xj, after new head unit instal no running lights or cluster lights. I did short the orange dimmer wire by accident while installing radio, have replaced the headlight switch hoping that was my issue, no luck. Also checked interior fuse panel for anything blown and they all check out. Please help I'm new here

 

body control module, or bcm, pop in a junkyard one and see what happens. do some googling of the bcm and how it works, but I think it controls all that stuff. If you pumped 12v into a line that should have a fraction of that you might have blown a transistor or two in the bcm. just a thought not really sure.

 

So I'll close this thread. When I shorted out the dimmer wire ( orange wire in radio harness) it blew a mini 20 amp fuse under the hood. The problem for me was this fuse was not in any of the damn diagrams I found online ! So either way after a ton of trial and error and replacing the $30 headlight switch for no reason , I found the problem. Hope this helps someone in the future
