its gonna be a daily driver and a weekend toy nothing extreme. im thinking about the rc 3 inch lift and some 31's. ive heard on here that with the newer xj's a 3'' lift is more likely to need a sye.

I have a 2000 xj with a 3.5 inch lift and there is barely any vibrations at speed. A '98 would be better being that it has a high pinion 30 and you might get lucky and find a Chrysler 8.25 in the back. My 2000 has a LP Dana 30. You would be fine with a stock drivetrain to go 3 inches.

Have a buddy that just installed a rough country 4 inch on a xj. He told me that the front springs are really heavy. I suppose they are suited to support a heavy duty bumper and winch. He said it road like a dump truck. I have a 3.5 RE superride (add a leafs) and it does not ride like a cadillac but it is not as bad as the rough country. Me personally i don't care about the ride because thats all i ever driven was jeeps. Just something to think about if its going to be a driver.

i just lifted my 98 xj 5 inch rough country lift, put 33 12.50 bfgs with 15x8 wagon wheels run 70 mph with cruise set smooth no problems getting ready to put upper and lower adjustable control arms from topguncutumz with a adjustable trackbar, got to do some trimming so i can take it out fourwheeling have some rubbing issues when i take it out on the trails, hopefully will fix it this weekend my first jeep xj wouldnt trade it for anything.
