Default 98 xj gas gauge/abs issue

My 98 has been having a problem lately with the gas gauge not working and the abs light coming on. For example, gauge didnt work this morning and abs light was on. After i took my kids to school and started jeep again, gauge worked and abs light was off. It never happens randomly while driving. Is there a ground wire or connection somewhere i should check? Any other ideas?

Pull the instrument cluster and clean all the contact pins and sockets. A good plastic-safe electrical contact cleaner is best.

I had fruity stuff happening with my zj, incl. the abs light, until I replaced the entire fuse block by the passenger footwell. Got it out and the whole thing was separating. Its pressed together in layers. My case, layers of bright green funk from the hole in the wheelwell. Good luck.

Cleaning the connections on the gauge cluster didn't work. Ill check the fuse block and start checking all the grounds next. Any chance it could be the ECU?
