Bought a used transfer case out of a '98 Xj to swap into my '94 rather than rebuilding mine. I did this for a couple reasons, I can rebuild the '98 case in my garage and toss it in when it's finished rather than putting my daily driver out of commission the case I got only had 80k on it o it doesn't need much as far as rebuilding, and because I'm
tired of screwing with transfer cases.... the one in my rig now has done nothing but leak and blow out bearings. I noticed that there are a few differences between the two cases. Both cases are np231's.
My questions are,
1. This is a direct swap, correct?
2. Do I need to get '98 driveshafts to run this case or will my '94 shafts work?
3. What's best for sealing the TC? I usually use Permatex Gasket Maker but i want THE BEST seal I can get.... like I said, I'm beyond frustrated with TC leaks. Every time I fixed one leak on my current case another leak opened up a week later.
Thanks for your help!
