98 Classic 1/2 Dead
Buddy has a 98 Cherokee Classic..
Alternator regulator failed.. Jeep got over 19 volts
for a while.. gauges went nutty, wipers came on... then died..
It will roll over.. it has no headlights, no blower fan, no brake lights.
Mechanics say Computer.. but I think NOT!
Anyone have this happen? any ideas?
Thanks!

I would listen to the mechanic, the alt on a 98 is controled by the pcm,if it got up to 19 it is due to the pcm, the only way to fix the problem is to replace the pcm. Hope all else is fine.
also make sure you replace it with the same part number, not all are compatible.

The pcm controls the alt output with the evr, electronic voltage regulator. Under the battery there is a temp sensor that monitors battery temp, the evr will reduce voltage if temp gets to high.
When you say nothing, what do you mean? no voltage at all,to much? need a lttle more info.
