Default '98 Cherokee Will Not Start

My '98 Cherokee will not start. My daughter drove it home Saturday night, but could not get it to start Monday morning. It cranks fine, but will not run. I seem to be getting fuel, but not spark. I changed out the crank sensor today, but that did not help. I pulled to coil and it shows ~6-7 ohms ( I am not sure what the spec value should be).
Any advice on what to check next is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Did you actually watch/verify spark? You must do that so you know where to look next.

Pull a spark plug, keep it attached to the plug wire, place the plug electrode near a good engine ground, have somebody crank the engine while you watch. You are looking for a strong, blue, snapping spark. Yellow/orange/white indicates a weak spark, which may not be strong enough to start the engine.

IF spark checks out (and only IF), then try spraying some starting fluid or a small splash of gas into the intake. If it starts and runs momentarily, you have verified a FUEL DELIVERY problem.

Try the above and let us know what you find...............

BTW, testing the coil is more involved than what you did. You need a meter and a manual detailing how to test for primary and secondary resistances.

I put the coil back in and tried the ASD relay swap with another and still nothing. The new sensor for the distributor came and I installed it. Turns out everything is fine now. It must have been that one all along.

Glad to have the Jeep running againm thanks for the help.
