Default 97 dies when turning left

Hey wahts up guys? Ive got a 97 xj 4.0 i just recently got running again. but since ive noticed then when im low on gas and make a sharp left she sputters and almost dies. my bros gf had the same problem on her wrangler w a 4 cyl. it only happens when i gas it afer a somewhat sharp left turn.. I figure maybe the pickup tube in the tank curved or deteriorated while sitting (almost 2 yrs.. ya.. i know...) and when the fuel sloshes the right way its exposed and sucks air.. anywho anyone else have this problem and if so how did you solve it? I know how to pull out the pump and check all that out but after i did it on my 89 xj and replaced a hose the gas gauge didnt register. im trying to keep this one from becoming as heepish as the 89... by the way i need to get rid of my 89 xj as is.. drives but needs smog anyone in the sd area looking for a cheap project? 4" lift all around uppers and lowers custom tube fenders and rear powertrax locker hit me up if youre in the san diego area im in north county id like to get 800 for her to get some shocks and steering for my 97 but really i dont have parking room for her, need money and just want to see her back on the trail... but anyways, sorry... any ideas about my fuel problem.. ?

common both my 97 (RIP) and my current 98 do it, don't run the tank so low.. it only does at 1/8 tank or less right?it's very bad for the pump.

ya i figured it couldnt be good for the pump so ive been trying to keep it higher up there.. but it does it just a little below a 1/4 tank way before the gas light comes on or anything.. but true, keep it full simple fix. i love my jeep.

you shouldn't go under 1/4 for very long it strains the fuel pump
