Hello, all. Just joined and first time posting.
My daughter's 97 Jeep has developed a problem I can't tackle. The split second you engage starter with key switch, all power dies. I can unhook battery for a few minutes, hook it back, and power returns.
Had battery tested, tried different battery, had starter tested, terminals are clean. Could it be key switch, or battery cables possibly, hope it isn't ECM.

I had that problem when I did the battery cable upgrade, and I had painted battery terminals. The terminals weren't making good contact with the cables, I put some regular terminals in and the issue was fixed. Check your battery cables and grounds there is probably a bad connection somewhere.

There was lots of corrosion on the bare wire ends. cleaned them up and she started right up.
