It is just that easy. It is a plug and play. But if you are going from idiot light cluster to full gauges you will need to replace your sensors to the gauge type or you will not get the right readings.

So here what happened. . I wanted to check my speedo gear before I swapped mt cluster to see what kind I would need to buy. Going to pull the connector I notice that one of those three wires it seemed to have been "chewed"!! Yea I have no ides how maybe a chipmunk or squirrel or something. Little hole punctures around the wire.. qnyway I fixed that and the speedo now works.. but check engine light is still on, do I need to un hook the battery for it to go away or should it just have gone away? Or should I just bring it to auto zone and hook it up to the computer and maybe its from another issue, I have no clue

Nope, only 96' and down need to do that, 97'+ the sensor are dual reading(how ever it's called) they work both for dummy and full gauges.

To OP there is a issue though with using a 98'+ on a 97' and it does have something to do with the check engine light and the rear hatch light. Can remember details but hopefully someone will know what I'm talking about and chime in. Think it was on naxja that talked about it

I swapped mine from idiot lights to a cluster setup. I didn't change any sensors and everything reads ok

swap should take about 5 mins start to finish.

I gained 94k miles but the cluster was $12 at a junkyard.
