97 cherokee 4.0 what t-case is compatable

97 cherokee 4.0 what t-case is compatable
ive got an 85 cherokee 2.5-np-231-21-spline and a donor 97 cherokee 4.0 and auto tranny will my old np231 21-spline be compatible with that tranny or do i have to upgrade??

From what I've read when researching transfer cases all the automatics are 21 spline as was the ba-5 manuals.
The AX15 was a 23 spline.
So you should be good to go and use it.
