Default 97 to 90 motor and tranny swap

found a I-6 4 liter motor and tranny combo on craigslist for 400 OBO. how hard of a swap is this to do because of the vacuum fuel injection to electronic fuel injection, AND does it matter if the tranny is from a 2 wheel drive because my 90 is definitely a 4 wheel drive. any info is GREATLY appreciated cause i gotta get something done before the end of september. thanks

you will find many problems with swapping the 97-90,unless you change all the wiring and brains, unless you use just the block, jeep changed the intake again in 97 and controls and wiring on a 97 are totaly different, either change the wiring or use the block,as far as the trany you would have to change the tail shaft on the 2 wheel drive to use it.

No,what i am saying is you can use the motor but you need to use the control system for that year. in 91 chrysler took over jeep and made alot of changes to the control system and motor, they made more changes in 96,in 97 they changed the intake, and in 2000 they changed from a distibutor to coil on plug ingnition system.
I have a 91 in my 89,I just srtipped it to a bare block and attached my 89 stuff to it.
I think if you just strip it down to a long block you could use it.
