97 4.0 distributor cap noise
I recently installed an accel tune up kit on my jeep. Approx 3 weeks ago.
Just recently it has started a high pitch squeal/squeak. I figure its coming from the distributor because if I touch the cap I can feel the vibration.
Anybody have any idea what the problem could be? Or experienced it yourself?
All was fine till 2 days ago. I tried putting a little dielectric grease on the rotor and cap, but no change.
Thanks guys

Sometimes the shaft of the dizzy gets dry. Probably has nothing to do with your recent tune-up. If so, dizzy needs to be removed, partially disassmbled and greased.

Your distributor may be wore out. The shaft on mine got play inside of the housing. It was making a chirping sound for a long time and it finally got so bad it started knocking out the ignition pickup or what ever that little round thing with the elc. wire on it is called, in the distributor.
A new distributor took care of the chirping and ignition problem.
