Might be time for the 'ole career-switcharoo. I had to do an about-face at 35. DW at 49. Roll with the tide and keep your head above the waves..
Doing OK with some consulting work, but really I have 4 businesses going right now to make less than ends meat. It's been 3 years of battling. Most of us veterans are running into the 20/20/20 rule - need to be 20 years old, with 20 years experience, and be happy with 20k per year.

Career switch is in motion, but slow moving.

Well that explains it. You have no idea how bad things are out there.

By the way, extra special thanks to your generation for all the debt that your kid's and grand kid's generation will never be able to pay off. Hope you are happy in retirement.

I don't recall OK'ing debt. I'm a cheapskate and never run an unbalanced household budget. I don't think most ordinary folks are any different.
We (the retirement age crew) are as PO'd about it as you are.

getting back to the original subject; did you check to make sure your electric fan was cycling on when the A/C is on? That could explain the overheating at idle.

Mine did this yesterday... Outside temps here are 106+ for the next few days.

I am quite sure my clutch fan has died. It engages somewhat after has sat all night, but does not engage when the engine is overheating.

After lunch I drove straight on to work with no more over heating.

Of course the small Efan runs non stop so i will be swapping the larger clutch fan for an efan as well.

U may want to do some home work.....efans that will pull as many cfms as a properly functioning clutch fan r few and far between and probably require substantial mods to mount.
