Bought a 96 XJ a few months back. Had several little electrical issues that seem to keep piling up. Lots of aftermarket products were put on by the previous owner. Seems like they were all removed but several wiring harnesses and random switches that don't appear to go to anything are still installed. For the past week when I would open my door, there was an intermittent clicking sound accompanied by flashing gauges/side markers/taillights for about 30 seconds. Seemed to be an antitheft measure possibly. The chime or alarm neither one have worked since I purchased so I'm not sure if it is for sure antitheft. Now this morning I can't get it to turn over. The starter was replaced a week after I bought it. Battery was replaced in October of last year. Not sure on alternator. When I turn the key I get nothing. No clicks, no cranking. All lights come on, radio works, etc. The only thing that seems weird is when i turn the key to start it the brake light comes on. I've tried putting in neutral and setting the parking brake. Nothing seems to be working. Need advice. This is my daily driver. Thanks in advance.
