I'm new to this forum, but i recently got a 96 XJ with the 4.0L with an auto trans. She is pretty stock right now, but the previous owner did some real snazzy wiring to it.
She cranks but has no power to the coil and the fuel pump doesn't kick on. A bunch of people were saying it was a bad Crank position sensor.
I swapped that out and still not getting any power to the coil and fuel pump still no Bueno.
The relays are good, I can run a jumper wire in place of the relay and kick the fuel pump on or send 12v power to the coil but it wont start that way.
I tried a few Crank sensors but none seemed to help. The camshaft position sensor is also new.
Im thinkin its the ECU and if i swap that out can i try one from a junkyard or does it NEED to be flashed to the VIN
Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated this has me stumped

 

96 is now emissions exempt, im not sure if 96 has vin and mileage but my 2000 will need to be reprogrammed with vin and current mileage,

Im in the same boat with being down to ECM after trying a bunch of stuff lol, sorry

 

yeah, i have tried everything i can think of. No cuts or anything bad with the o2 sensor. All grounds are good
i guess the ECM on these jeeps just go bad...?
