I do have a question perhaps someone can help me with.... Standard Motor Products AC151 and AC151T both say they are for my Jeep how can I know for sure which one is the correct one? I recall having this issue when I replaced it a couple years ago but I no longer have the amazon account I had purchased it through, so I can pull up my order history to see which one I went with before.

Try cycling key four or five time letting fuel pump run until it stops priming.
Then try and start.Sounds like check valve not holding.

What exactly l am looking for? The issue with it not starting is very intermittent 5/10 times, so I'd have to know exactly what you want me to listen to, or for. Sorry I don't understand, but I want to. Thanks!

I haven't replaced the TPS yet or perhaps I need to replace the darn CPS again? I was wanting to update you and say the NSS isn't the issue, I don't believe, after taking it apart cleaning it and putting it back together etc...

I wanted to clarify something with hopes maybe you could have a likely suggestion as the cause when I pull in to park, as soon as I turn into the parking space, before I even have a chance to put the car in park, it dies. It's very abrupt. Like BOOM it's off. There is never stuttering or hesitation when it dies. It's very very abrupt and it's the same way at the stop lights/stop signs. Very immediately the Jeep is off.

If I don't put the Jeep in neutral at a stop light or stop sign it will always die now. If not again, it's 9/10 times that it does.

There are 2 tps part #'s for my Jeep one has a T on the end of it, the other without... How do I know which one to buy?

Once you begin accelerating, the IAC is out of the picture. It can cause a stumble and stall at idle, or any time the gas pedal is fully released (coming to a stop). But this problem sounds a little more involved than an IAC.

Another thing that causes stalls at stops is a failure of the torque convertor to unlock. The computer picks up indications from the brake pedal switch and I believe the throttle position sensor, and it knows to signal the torque converter to unlock. But if the torque converter fails to unlock either because it was commanded to, but didn't, or was never commanded to, the drive train will drag down the motor rpm and cause it to stall as you slow down. Basically it keeps the motor directly connected to the drive train, when it needs to be able to spin at a different rate.

You could try manually down shifting from D into 3rd, to see if it causes any different behavior during slow downs / stops.

If an XJ has a tachometer on the dash cluster you can confirm proper torque converter unlocking by going about 55mph on straight flat road, and without letting off the gas, tap the brake pedal. The engine RPM should quickly jump up by about 300+ RPM for a few moments then return to the original RPM as the torque converter locks up again.

I got a new starter and that fixed the not starting issue (click once or often no sound when turned forward) figured this one out by smacking it with a hammer before ordering the new starter, it kept starting up everytime I'd whack the starter with a hammer or flashlight. lol...

I am still however having a few other issues, I cannot figure out and ordered yet another cps, this time a true Mopar oem as well as just installed a new mopar tps, also just put in a new distributor cap, plugs, wires and rotor which they had no effect on my stalling issues, I am hoping it's the CPS.

Any other suggestions as to why it might die everytime I pull into my driveway or a parking space. I am talking literally imagine pulling in and just as you're about to put it in park and shut the key off, it dies. Still dies at every stop light now, unless I throw it in neutral before i come to a complete stop to keep it from dying.

Any suggestions to fix the Jeep dying at every stop/stop light issue would be immensely appreciated.

**On a completely random note; while out getting groceries my Heater Core Valve blew in 2 places and I had to fix that as radiator fluid was all over the place. Lucky enough AutoZone was across the street and had 1 in stock. Sigh.

My list of items I have replaced in just the last 2 years, in nearly all cases with Mopar parts from a Chrysler dealership whom I get all my parts from (unless the Mopar part is impossible to attain, then it's all about relying on reviews from as many people as possible to get the better quality part I can):

Radiator
Temp Sensor
Gold Series Battery from Advance
Alternator
Ignition Switch
Ignition Coil
Plugs
Wires
Distributor Cap & Rotor
Air Filter
Water Pump
Thermostat
Hoses, Hoses, Hoses
Power Steering Lines
TPS
CPS
Idle Air Control Valve
Oil Pressure Switch
Too Many relays to list
Neutral Safety Switch
Fuel Pump (mines in the tank)
Fuel Filter
o2 sensor
Many of the items above I have replaced in the past year, some in the past few weeks.
Headlights and all my light bulbs because, why not? It's already a money pit.
I am confident there are others I have missed but I think this says a lot.

It's getting to be a long thread so forgive me if I missed it.

I'd consider removing the throttle body and thoroughly cleaning it. A dirty throttle body can cause stalling.

At the very least, do the throttle body cleaning I suggested in post #12. Cleaning/replacing the idle air control is important but can't forget that throttle body that it is attached to!

With it running try shaking or wiggling wiring harness and connector at each sensor and see if you get it to miss or die. My 95 would be a random no start after it got warmed up and ended op being the connector at the coil had a little wiggle to it and I could kill it everytime I touched it repaired it and haven't had anymore trouble .

I will be cleaning the throttle body for sure, Thanks! I will wiggle all the connectors with it running, ya know without getting electrocuted possibly or hurt

As for the torque converter, How can I test it? Is there a way I can get a fairly accurate idea of this torque converter locking up is the issue?

After replacing the tps the other day, I was hoping that would have been the cause. However it wasn't but hey, It's got a new TPS again! lol

This really is nuts, I will continue trying everything I can until I get to the bottom of it though.
