Default 96+ recall?

PCM (reprogram) and catalytic converter (replace if bad). Anyone dealt with this? I just found out about it. I know the original owner of mine (Nan) had the catalytic converter replaced at some point. But according to the Chrysler web site mine shows incomplete. Evidently she paid to have it replaced locally where she had it serviced. I doubt if they reprogramed the PCM. Don't know if I want the dealer messing with the PCM or not.

Here's the site: http://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/jeep/index.jsp
-click on "recall info"(line 6)
-at the bottom of the page enter the last 8 characters of your VIN

One does not have to pay for a vehicle recall.

Unless it fails and you just replace it instead of going for the actual recall

even then if you paid for repairs for the vehicle that is covered under a recall MOST auto manufactures will offer a reimbursement for those costs.

I think that it's the original owners responsibility to recover those costs. If I purchased a vehicle with an expired multi-millon dollar lottery ticket in it, it's still expired.......

FWIW I got new rotors on my '92 a few years ago due to a rotor recall. I seriously doubt they were the original rotors...

Muskrat,
Recall includes:
-Certain '96 xj,zj w/4.0 engines
-Certain '97&'98 wrangler,xj,dodge dakota w/2.5 engines

There's also a recall on rear center seat belt anchors but I didn't bother looking it up.

Thing about the converter replacement is that they pay parts and labor BUT if something happens to another part/parts of the exhaust while they're working on it your responsible for parts and labor for them to repair it.

I haven't talked to her but I figure that's what she did. If she got a recall notice, knowing her,she probably didn't want to drive the 50+ miles to the dealer.

I received that recall in 2011? and took the car to our local Jeep dealer. I explained that I had the converter replace several years before. They did the software update to provide an indication of converter operation trouble and checked out my aftermarket converter as acceptable. They gave me the information to send in a copy of the replacement receipt for a refund of the converter cost and labor. Received the refund as promised.
