96 lemon or love
bought a 96 laredo with 218k on it 4 wks ago; sputtered and bucked when purchased - replaced so far: started with tps and then code read intermittent failure crankshaft so i replaced crank sensor; cam sensor; still had check eng. light, removed and inspected comp connections, cleaned, synced dist to crank, did all the tricks, backed out screws at comp brd, end up replacing comp with used one - ran for three days but the muffler and cc eventually needed to be replaced AND $778
three days later that ol familiar red glow from the dash, went to oriely's read code again at oriely's - code was catylist running below threshold (bank 1) - replaced entire exhaust system cc, muffler, and downstream o2sensor; mechanic had gone home prior to my picking up vehicle, but the demon still had the check engine lite glowing but was much quieter and for a few blocks ran for the first time ok. and then buck buck buck sputter sputter, press gas loose power, etc. went directly to oriely's now the code is p0132 o2 circuit high voltage (bank1 sensor1) -
so i guess my questions are : bank 1 sensor 1; is this upstream or downstream; i guess the new one is faulty or???
and what is going to fail next i shall pls let me know if you ever resolved the problems or experienced these or is it just got too many miles on it and will cause me to continue to make payments on my mechanic's new donzi?
i had a 95 sport and when it was totalled after rolling it with over 350k same 6cy 4.0 minus the bells and whistles. I LOVED THIS JEEP. I WANT TO LOVE THIS GC TOO. so far i am not happy

upstream before cat. What kind of o2 sensor did you use? I have heard Bosch is the best b/c of the design and others have had problems out of the box with other brands

yeah, that is the up stream sensor, that is the main one that controls fuel mixture after the engine warms up, so there is a good chance that is causing most of your problems.
