Default 96 HO line to the fuel rail

I have a 96 Cherokee, just picked it up, it was a TN government public works vehicle, pretty perfect body, original paint, and only 47k original miles!

Anyway, going through it and cleaning it up, replacing fluids, etc... I noticed the fuel line on the fuel rail is different. I own a 89 Renix 4.0 and have had some other Cherokees, but I think 96 must be different.

The line has no hose clamp or anything. It looks original and everything else is original, but it just connects up on the front drivers side of the fuel rail. It doesn't appear to be leaking. I found other people posting pictures and see it looking the same.

This seems strange for a pressure line right? How is it not the fitted pressed pressure lines and/or at least a hose clamp?

Just making sure this is normal and nothing to worry about.

Link to image below, could not get any images to upload to this site for some reason, they all ended up failing and saying invalid URL.

Not to worry. That is what my '96 looked like. Just the one line. Not like pictures of older ones I have seen where there was 2 lines.

Seems crazy it doesn't leak with no clamp? Must be something inside there it's pushing on to make it not leak or something. So tempted to add hose clamps to both ends for safety, but if it's factory assume it doesn't leak, just no idea how not.

It's special quick-connect fitting. Don't worry about it.

Nice find!

Doesn't look like one piece, looks like rubber hose is just pushed onto it, must be covering something else up I don't understand.

Btw, not talking about the quick connector fitting that goes to the fuel rail, replaced a few of those and understand them, if you go behind that in my picture there is just rubber fuel hose pushed onto the back of the main metal fitting.

The rubber line is installed over the metal line to protect it.

Oh, yeah. Sorry, didn't realize what part you were talking about. Yeah, what Radi said. It's just a cover.

As Radi stated the rubber hose is just for protection on my 96 there is a plastic tube underneath that connects the metal fuel line to the special connector (it looks like a trumpet mouth piece). That section needs to be handled with care especially if is cold. Don't ask me ow I know this ;-)
