Ugh ..... I was hoping I might have a hose leaking and the repair would cost some grease on my arms and a $2.00 hose......


For you experienced guys, is there anything on the engine under the intake that carries coolant (besides block or head)?


As soon as I dump H2O in the radiator is starts dribbling out. Is there a freeze plug or something else under there that is known for leaking? 4.0 inline six --- can't imagine a rubber hose in this hot area close to the exhaust manifold..... Please tell me there is a metal coolant tube under here that needs to be replaced.... if it's a freeze plug, looks like intake / exhaust manifold will need to be removed and everything on left side of engine. Saturday / Sunday "fun"? What say you?...

 

Yep, 5 freeze plugs. Replace them all.

Also, one between the engine and trans........keep and eye on that one too.

 

Thanks Jeep Driver - hey, that's a real original name - why didn't I think of that? Well, I'd much rather do freeze plugs than a cracked block!! Looks like I'll start the project next weekend after I jack it up and eyeball it directly (maybe even WITHOUT cooland dribbling down my shirt? That'd be a first....).
