Default 96 classic sensor plug problems...

Finally got a code scanner and it stated that the coolant temp sensor and IAT sensor are bad. I went out a bought the two sensors but the plugs are different. Close but def. different. I'll try to get pics up of what mine look like in a minute(hopefully). It's a 1996 classic, 4.0, auto. Did they make different plugs? It doesn't look like the motor was replaced but not sure of that. Thanks in advance!

Thats what I was hoping but the pics on bwd parts catalog look like the ones they gave me. The part numbers check out as the right year and model also.

Hmm that's pretty weird. Are you able to contact the previous owner to find out if there was an engine swap or part swap somewhere along the lines like you thought in the first place

Just got of the phone with a knowlegeable parts gal. She was the first of 4 people, at different parts stores, to inform me that they have pigtails for my year. I'll post part numbers as soon as I get back for anyboby that runs into this problem with sensor plugs not fitting or sensor plugs not the same (that should help when the search bar is used). I knew I wasn't crazy but man was I stumped!! Part are from CarQuest. Intake air sensor pigtail 57-4501. Coolant temp sensor pigtail 57-4502.

Yah, I think the parts stores are a little off with some of those plugs. I bought a coolant temp sensor at Autozone for my ZJ and it was wrong, but they swore that was the only one until I went to Checkers and they had the right one.
