96 Classic No start
Hows it going guys. I have been a long time lurker on this forum. So my problems is that I recently purchased a 96 classic 4.0HO for $200. The jeep used to run but it has been sitting for over a year. The original culprit was the fuel pump. That has since been replaced along with spark plug + wires, cam sensor (cracked it when removing distributor assembly) and CPS. Still no start so I checked resistance of CPS and it tested good. I have been searching many forums looking for an answer but I am stumped. Any help would be much appreciated.

yes both terminals b&c are showing no resistence. However could it be possible that the sensor is a dud? also have a napa sensor did the same test but it could not get the jeep the start up.
other info. consistent crank but no start. no spark. check engine light displayed but no codes being thrown. fuel pump primes and fuel rail is receiving fuel. motor has compression.

It's certainly possible the sensor is bad. There's a video here on testing the CPS:

update.
tried doing cps test as described by the video link but was getting inaccurate readings so i did a ground refresh. then i noticed some wires hanging near the transfer case. turns out they are the o2 wires. will this cause a no start. also found two wires going from the alternator to the green and green/pink wires on the coil connector. anyone know these two wires.
a lot of problems but i pretty much got this thing free and i know it used to run and still has some life

Update:
It was exam week at school so I could not really touch the jeep. but here's what I found when I unraveled the electrical tape that the previous owner put in. From what I have been reading on the forum I can see that what I have is the ND style field connector. however my Jeep has the earlier type alternator. I have been looking at diagrams for both alternator types but I am still new to the whole mechanical aspect of vehicles (especially wiring) so im just looking for a little guidance. Would it be possible to eliminate the field connector box and route wires directly to one another as outlined by the diagrams or would that create more issues?
