Default 95 xj running temp cold

my running temp is just above the first mark on my temp gauge. i flushed my coolant recently and im pretty sure i got all of the air out. my heater is working fine and blowing out hot air so i dont think it could be the water pump. im thinking its the thermostat. anybody know what it could be?

Could be a bad water temp sending unit (or it's got a dirty connection) if your heater is hot. If the t-stat were bad as in opening too soon, you wouldn't have good heat.

On your 95, I'm not sure. Look at the driver's side rear of the head first.

I believe that's your electric fan SENSOR. You're looking for your temp gauge SENDER. If there is not a single wire connector on a sender at the driver's side rear of the head, then the one in the pic MIGHT be a combination sender/sensor. Look at the back of the head first!!

Yep. Unplug the connector, spray it out with contact cleaner and do the same on the sender. Plug it back in and see what happens.
