Hello,
Installed new weatherstripping for my 95 XJ yesterday on the front driver and passenger doors. Bought items from Quadratec as they listed it was for my jeep (http://www.quadratec.com/products/55014_8110.htm). On the driver door, it seems as though the weatherstripping is not thick enough and from the inside I can see some gaps between the door and the weatherstripping when the door is closed. Yes, its shut all the way.
Any ideas? Do I need to "fluff" it up or something?

how do your hinges look? The hinges on the jeep are welded to thin sheet metal so may have bent out a little causing your doors not to shut all the way. My doors had a gap too and I ended up removing the door and hammering back and rewelding the hinge, now there is no gap in weather strippingOriginally Posted by max95xj
Anyone? Anyone? Should I try the rope trick?

Do you have a 2 or 4 door?
I had to rebuild a 2 door hinge and in the long run, its why I got rid of that jeep. I could never get it to seal properly again.
Do you have the new style metal hinges or the old steel beast hinges? My 2 door, the PIN broke inside it and that was my problem. It only pulled the door off by a little bit, but it was enough to make the air flow in.

after checking the hinge and if the stripping still dont fit then go to a&m soft seal or metro molded and get the thicker stuff summit racing usually stocks there stuff.
I have a 4door jeep cherokee, 95. Don't the 97+ XJ's have thicker weatherstripping? I can try to put those on the driver side and see if that helps...
