Default 95 Cherokee starting problems

Replaced the battery and then had start up problems. It will start with a jump so I thought the altinator was the problem and replaced it. Now it still won't start, the battery test good and it will start with a jump. Could it be a defective battery?

Is your charging system working properly? What does the voltage gauge read on your dash?

With a good battery and a properly working charging system, you should see 13.5 to 14.0 volts.

The voltage is reading at 14 volts. After I installed the altinator with the fully charged battery I had to jump it to get it going but now it's starting for me. In the recent past it did the same thing. It will start for me for a week or two maybe a month and then no start. The only thing I can think of is maybe the starter is feezing up on me. It's been starting for the past few days for me but I'm carrying a hammer just in case. I think I'll probably be replacig the starter soon.

Thanks

Check the ground wire that goes to the body/inner fender.

Also could be the starter/solenoid, or the starter relay.
