Heading back home through the mountains and look out the side mirror to see some smoke out the back. Looked under to find a good bit of oil coming down on the front passengers side of the oil pan. Let it sit half hour checked oil and was good, started it back up...nothing. Have been noticing a small leak even after replacing the o ring on the oil filter adapter after this all happen. Replacing oil pan filter but is there a chance of Of it being the real main seal?
Rear main leak is unlikey to migrate forwards to the front of the oil pan, but stranger things have happened. More likely your filter adapter is spraying a bit under pressure.
I'd clean it off, rev it up and watch for the leak. Thing is with the 4.0, everything looks like a rear main leak because the leaks all run to the rear.
