Default 94 XJ Trouble starting

I have a 94 XJ, 4.0, Just replaced the battery and the starter, will crank over fine the first few times, then it sounds like the the battery is losing power or the starter is having trouble turning over the motor. DRIVING ME NUTS NEED HELP.

Check your ground cable at the block. How is the charging system?

Getting fuel, fuel pressure 30 psi at idle, new starter, new battery, new battery cables, new ground cable, new crank sensor. Will turn over good for the first few cranks, then its like the battery is dying. What else is needed to be checked.

I had the same problem. Check the starter solenoid and the connections. Lots of oil will get on them, so disconnect, clean, reconnect.

Well since you replaced both the battery and starter, my guess would be you got a bad starter. Not all rebuild starters (and new) are perfect and sometimes you get a dud. Just replaced the original starter with 140,000. I had trouble for months with slow cranking and figured the battery was going. Dropped in a fresh new battery and the starter still was cranking slow. I ended up replacing the starter and and cranks fine now.
I have seen new starters installed and then trouble turning over the motor. After returning the unit and replacing the unit with another one the trouble usually always goes away.

Had the starter checked out,it checked out good, replaced the stator. Still having the starting issue. Got the motor on TDC and pulled the cap and the rotor button is pointing between the number 1 & 5 plug wire. Im thinking that it is out of time. Any ideas would help running out of ideas.

Get a factory service manual and start reading and fixing the timing. You can't adjust the timing on the 4.0 like you can on old cars by just rotating the base. Might have slipped a gear on that little drive gear underneath the rotor.
