I brought my XJ a couple of months and its running a bit ****
every now and again when your cruzing or if you accelerate heavily out of a corner it basically cuts the engine out
Sometimes I can hear what sounds like backfire

Ive changed all the ingnition system bar the coil
Ive put a new air filter in
Throttle body spacer
and Ive had the catilatic converter removed which seemed to help a bit (legal in NZ)

Its been doing it before Ive done all this stuff
My old man seems to think its a sensor cause his wrangler has done a similar thing

any help will be much appresiated

check the cps wires for worn spot and cracks maybe hitting and shorting out whe you turn

 

Where abouts would those be located?

 

back of valve cover drivers side it bolt to the bell housing and the wires run up toward the valve cover

How the am I gana reach that wire?

 

thas all the fun just look arounr the top near the valve cover no body said it would be easy
