while its warm and running crappy at idle, I can unplug the coolant temp sensor and the aux fan will come on. As that fan cools down the engine a bit, the idling smooths out. I left the sensor unplugged to keep the fan going and now I can get the engine up to about 2000 rpm before it starts to buck and carry on.

As soon as you unplug the temp sensor, the electric fan kicks on as a fail safe to keep the engine cool from overheating. you said you changed out the temp sensor...where did you get it from and do you know what brand?

The sensor came from AutoZone. don't remember the brand. I am getting no check engine light.....until I unplug the sensor.

The only other things that come to mind are the O2 or perhaps a plugged CAT. Keep us posted if you find it and Good luck~

I borrowed a vacuum tester and a fuel pressure gauge. The vacuum seems to be good as well as using the vacuum to check the exhaust. Doesn't appear to be any obstructions in the exhaust. Also the fuel pressure is holding over 30 psi when the jeep starts running badly. Anyone with any more ideas. I am out !!

Well, it should, the PCM doesn't know what temp the engine is at so it is going to run a default value in it's place, IE - limp mode. CTS is vital to fuel mix.

i believe the CTS is working okay right now. While tinkering with this issue, the engine sometimes get very warm and the aux cooling fan has kicked on.

That pressure ar idle with or without the vacuum line hooked up to the fuel pressure regulator?
