Unhappy 92 XJ timing off?

I have a 1992 XJ Laredo 4.0 H.O. I6 that turns over but won't start. I have replaced the crank shaft positioning sensor. The battery is charging 12v. Fuel pressure is at 40 psi. We checked the rotor position on the distributor when piston #1 is at top dead center and the rotor is facing the exact opposite position of where it should be. How would I fix this?

you have 2 tdc you must be on compression stroke for it to be on no1

nope you pull the no1 plug and put you finger over the hole and turn the motor over by hand you will fell air blowing past you finger thats compression stroke then turn it more untill the timing mark is at o thasts compression stroke thats why the air is pushung you finger its compressing dist should be pointing to no1

Ok we did that and at the point when we felt the air the dist is pointing in the exact opposite position from no1, say no1 is 12 o clock the dist is pointing at 6 o clock.

The spark fuel and injector pulse is all fine, it was acting up before we took the dist out. I'm still not completely sure that's the problem. Do you have any other ideas why it will turn over but wont start?

So when we checked it piston no1 is at tdc and the rotor is at 10 o clock not 5 o clock. I don't know what's going on

The rotor should be pointing at 5 o'clock when the #1 piston is at TDC.
