I have a 92 Cherokee laredo (auto) and i was wondering if i could take off the shifter handle and replace it with a Hurst T-bar handle, but the Hurst doesnt have a button like the stock handle, is it still ok to change them?

 

No, at least, not that I have seen or heard of. You could change the whole shifter out with a Hurst piece, or something simalar but that would be rather pricey, for little benefit, IMHO...

Not to my knowledge, but I have never really looked into it. There is an interlock in the shifter, and it is connected to the brake, and the ignition. You would have to get around that mechanism to use a handle w/o a button. Then your shift detents would not work, and you could easily knock your tranny out of gear.
